2025: Connectivity
This year’s Guiding Force—CONNECTIVITY—and map bring forward themes of community, collaboration, connection, belonging, opportunity, and alchemy. It feels like a continuation of my 2024 map: BLOOM, which ultimately taught me that you can only bloom if you have a deep root system to support you (read my reflections of the year here).
After birthing my book last year, I don’t feel the deep desire for some massive new project (that was a huge learning curve on many levels). Instead, I want to nurture the work I’m already doing and help it grow (definitely more blooming!). I see it now through the lens of dot connection: leveraging my network, getting creative with my approach, taking more workshops IRL, and making all the components of my work work together, and work for me, all while better being able to serve and support those who need it most.
Connectivity means to me:
Connecting the dots
Make systems work for me
Connect with others
Belonging
Collaboration
Unlock new opportunities and the next level
Not having to reinvent the wheel
Sparking new possibilities
Leveraging what and who I know
Goals for the year:
More speaking and workshops in front of new audiences. (And build skills.)
Get new faces in MYP (don’t worry, I still LOVE my returning mappers!)
Continue to share OVERRIDE! with new audiences, and increase sales to become recurring income stream
Work on exciting collaborations and cross-pollination of ideas!
Expand my network.
I realized that including an arena on my map was not only inspired by my 2024 (hello Olympics + Paralympics!), but my own desire to be in the arena. The circular power plant is a reminder to be more sustainable and be smart about my resources (that includes how I use my energy). I like that there is a rail way and everything is connected.
There will always be a bit of magic on my maps ever since my 2022 map: THE MAGIC WITHIN YOU. This year has magic portals, a magic shop, SynchroniCITY, and magic carpet parking.
Did you notice the banana tree at the community club house?
I turned my map into my desktop screensaver too to have reminders throughout the year.
The reason my map is yellow this year wasn’t completely planned, but it is very aligned with being known for banana maps!
It’s become my tradition to get my maps Riso printed at Studio Fidèle for a touch of fun and color. always let the paper be determined by whatever is in stock which I never know until the map is done. Turns out picking the ink color is more stressful than it should be! It’s also hard to go wrong.
You can check out my past maps here! Looking back, I can see how they all build on each other: 2020: EXPLORE, 2021: AUDACITY, 2022: THE MAGIC WITHIN YOU, 2023: IGNITE!, 2024: BLOOM.
Every year I make my map alongside community members inside Mapping Your Path [into the New Year] each fall. Learn more about Mapping Your Path here + sign up to be notified of future cohorts.
The next 3-mo cohort of Mapping Your Path: The Way Forward workshop + community kicks off Feb 6th! 🚀
